When coaches first see an AirPitch, they usually focus on the most obvious benefit: the ball stays in play.
That makes sense. There are fewer stoppages, fewer interruptions, and much less time spent chasing balls around the training ground.
However, after years of watching players train and compete inside AirPitches, we have noticed something else. In many ways, one of the biggest benefits of AirPitch has nothing to do with the pitch itself.
It is the effect that continuous play has on the players.

When football flows continuously, players simply spend more time playing football.
That may sound obvious, but the consequences are significant. Every time the ball leaves the playing area in a traditional small-sided game, the intensity drops. Players pause, reset, retrieve balls, and wait for the game to restart. Those moments may seem small individually, but over the course of a training session they add up.
Inside an AirPitch, those interruptions are dramatically reduced. Players remain engaged in the game for longer periods, constantly adjusting their positions, reacting to situations, supporting teammates, pressing opponents, and making decisions under pressure.
The result is that players are not only accumulating more touches and football actions. They are also maintaining higher levels of activity throughout the session.

Fun Fact: In all 3v3 UK tournaments, players are forced to go back and touch the BazookaGoal when every goal is scored. In that way, the intensity level is kept even higher!
Football first. Fitness follows.
One of the challenges in youth development is finding the right balance between technical development and physical development.
Of course, players need structured athletic development programmes as they grow. Strength, speed, mobility, and endurance all play an important role in the modern game.
But especially at younger ages, there is tremendous value in developing physical capacity through football itself.
When players improve their technique, awareness, reactions, decision-making, and stamina at the same time, every minute of training becomes more productive. Instead of separating football actions from physical work, the game naturally delivers both.
This is one of the reasons coaches often tell us that sessions inside AirPitches feel more intense without feeling more demanding. Players remain focused on solving football problems and competing with their teammates, while their bodies are continuously working in the background.

The next time you watch a game inside an AirPitch, don't just look at where the ball goes.
Look at the players.
Look at how often they move, react, support, recover, and compete.
You may discover that one of the greatest advantages of AirPitch isn't the pitch at all. It's the amount of football that players experience while they're inside it. EXPLORE AIRPITCH FORMATS HERE
